UST-Angelicum Students Soar High at ALIAC’s “Pilot for a Day” Program

Select senior high school students from UST-Angelicum recently had the opportunity to delve into the world of aviation through ALIAC’s “Pilot for a Day” program. Designed to offer a glimpse into the life of a pilot, the initiative provided participants with a hands-on experience that ignited their passion for aviation.

The day kicked off with a comprehensive campus tour, where participants were guided through various laboratories within ALIAC. From navigation to engineering, students gained insight into the diverse facets of aviation education. A highlight of the tour was a visit to the hangar, where they had the chance to board a real aircraft, further enhancing their understanding of the aviation industry.

One of the most thrilling aspects of the program was the opportunity to try out flight simulators, allowing students to experience the sensation of flying firsthand. Under the guidance of experienced instructors, they navigated through virtual skies, honing their skills and gaining a deeper appreciation for the complexities of piloting.

Throughout the day, students had the chance to interact with program chairs, who shared valuable insights into the academic and career pathways available in aviation. Additionally, they were treated to a unique encounter with ALIAC’s YS 11 Museum—a Japanese NAMC YS11 aircraft that serves as a symbol of the College’s commitment to aviation excellence.
