NRCP-DOST Visits ALIAC for Orientation on NRCP Membership

The National Research Council of the Philippines (NRCP) under the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) visited ALIAC to conduct an orientation on NRCP membership. The event aimed to assist the institution in understanding the benefits and processes involved in becoming a member of the NRCP.

The keynote speaker, Dr. Bernardo N. Sepeda, Executive Director of the National Research Council of the Philippines, delivered an inspiring address highlighting the importance of research in educational institutions. Dr. Sepeda emphasized the pivotal role of research in driving innovation and societal transformation, encouraging ALIAC to actively engage in scholarly activities. Facilitating the orientation were two distinguished members from the NRCP-DOST, Ms. Mary Charlotte Fresco, Senior Science Research Specialist from the Research Development and Management Division, and Ms. Jennifer Casabar, Science Research Specialist I from the same division. Ms. Fresco and Ms. Casabar provided comprehensive insights into the membership process of the NRCP. They discussed the necessary requirements, including the number of research publications needed for membership, and highlighted the various benefits of being an NRCP member, such as access to research funding, collaboration opportunities, and participation in national and international research activities.

Furthermore, the NRCP-DOST representatives assured ALIAC of their support in achieving membership status. They discussed the potential for future collaborations, aiming to foster a robust research culture within the institution. The visit concluded with a commitment from both ALIAC and NRCP-DOST to work closely together in the pursuit of excellence in research and development. The series of research undertakings at ALIAC are being spearheaded by Dr. Ethel Reyes-Chua, the Director of the Research Department under the Office of the Vice President for Academic Affairs headed by Dr. Lina M. Constante. Their leadership and dedication to advancing research reflect ALIAC’s commitment to establishing strong connections with esteemed research bodies like NRCP-DOST. The orientation on NRCP membership marked a significant milestone for ALIAC, showcasing its dedication to advancing research and fostering a culture of academic excellence.
