ALIAC Kicks Off the Academic Year with ‘Ready to Take Off’ Student Orientation and Reorientation

The Aliyah ALIAC community soared to new heights as they welcomed the students with the theme “Ready to Take Off” during the two-day Student Orientation and Reorientation event held on August 19-20, 2024. The event aimed to familiarize both new and returning students with the school’s policies, services, and the dynamic environment that will shape their educational journey.

The program commenced with a warm welcome from Atty. Gomeriano Amurao, DPA, who delivered an inspiring message. “There are many valid, important, and vital reasons, as well as life-changing and transformative ones. Indeed, your decision to be a part of this dynamic community is in itself a well-thought-out and intelligent decision. To my mind, this could be the strongest argument. Hence, it is a personal choice and conviction,” Atty. Amurao emphasized. He further encouraged students to embrace their new journey with enthusiasm, stating, “The checklist is done: all systems go, airspeed alive, Ready for Take Off!”

Fr. Glenn Paul Gomez, SVD, ALIAC’s Spiritual Director and Adjunct Professor, provided an enlightening talk on values and spiritual formation. He emphasized the importance of core values in achieving success and highlighted the FIDES principles: Faith in God, Integrity, Discipline, Excellence, and Social Responsibility. Fr. Gomez stressed that these values are essential for every Phoenix to possess as they navigate their academic and personal journeys.

Students were also introduced to the various school policies and regulations, with particular focus on the services provided by the Office of the Registrar and the Office of Student Development and Services. The academic calendar, schedule, and the use of the Learning Management System (LMS) or Canvas were also thoroughly explained, ensuring that students are well-equipped for the academic year ahead.

Dr. Lina Constante, Vice President for Academic Affairs, provided closing remarks, expressing optimism for the students’ time at ALIAC. “We are hopeful that your stay here will not only be academically enriching but also personally fulfilling. We are here to support you every step of the way,” Dr. Constante remarked.

A highlight of the event was the corporate video showcasing ALIAC’s rich history, its esteemed administration, core values, and objectives. Students were also informed about the immersion programs abroad, an exciting opportunity for those looking to broaden their horizons.

The orientation was more than just informative; it was an engaging experience for all attendees. Students and their parents were treated to a short laboratory tour, providing a glimpse of the hands-on learning environment ALIAC is known for. The day was filled with games, the traditional ALIAC Welcome Walk, and a much-anticipated performance by Taylor Sheesh, which was met with great enthusiasm.

Students from various courses shared their thoughts on the event. Lia Barrios, a second-year BS Avionics student, expressed, “I enjoyed attending the re-orientation.” Meanwhile, Ira Villarante, a first-year BSOA student, commented, “It was so great naexplain ng maayos yung ginagawa ng every office and naexplain ng maayos each department lalo na sa course ko. Straight to point po sila, hindi paligoy-ligoy.” John Ar-jhay Rolega, also a first-year BSOA student, added, “Kakaiba yung pagwelcome, sobrang bongga and entertaining unlike sa other schools.” Jaimena Chen Ramos, a third-year BSAF student, noted, “Organized and masaya unlike sa previous orientation. Well thought of ‘yung program.”

The event, which brought together the vibrant community of ALIAC Phoenixes, marked the beginning of another exciting academic year, filled with learning, growth, and new opportunities. With such a successful orientation, the Phoenixes are not only “Ready to Take Off” but are now “Cleared for Take Off.”
